Introduction

Welcome to White Sand Ultra, where the Kutch desert doesn’t just stretch on for miles—it stretches your limits. This is a place where the horizon plays tricks, the sun is your relentless shadow, and your race is a chance to join Hell-hood. Whether you’re here to conquer the 50 KM or take on the beastly 135 miles, this Hell Race is like none other. You’ve faced mountains, trails, maybe even deserts—but nothing quite like this. Here, it’s just you, the sand, and the endless question: how far can you go?

The Idea

The White Sand Ultra was born from the idea of testing endurance in its most raw, untamed form. It’s not just another race—this is a journey into the depths of the desert, where the terrain isn’t your friend but your greatest adversary. The idea? Simple: go beyond. The roads through this desert are as unforgiving as they are breathtaking. Each mile underfoot seems like an innocent obstacle with the terrain, but together, they form the perfect test of your physical and mental limits. We

wanted to create something that strips away the distractions of life and focuses purely on the runner versus the earth.

White Sand Ultra is unlike any other ultra. You’re not just running in the salt desert—you’re running with the desert. The landscape through the Rann of Kutch will play with your footing, draining your energy with every step. Heat radiates off the ground, rising into a scorching horizon that tests your hydration strategies, while the salt flats stretch endlessly, making you question if the finish line is just a mirage.

At the start of the race, you will be welcomed to the Road to Heaven segment—a stretch where the horizon opens up to surreal beauty. As the sun would go down over the Kutch, painting the sky in shades of gold and pink. Above you, flamingos take flight, a reminder that even in this desert wilderness, life thrives. As we let you on the course of Hell through Kutch, carrying this moment with you, a dreamlike reminder of why you chose to push beyond your limits.

This isn’t a course where you can rely on familiar trails or predictable conditions—this is the desert’s playground. For those brave (or crazy) enough to tackle the 135 miles, you’ll face the unique challenge of managing the desert night’s chilling cold, only to wake up to another blistering day. The Rann doesn’t just test your endurance; it challenges your adaptability and mental toughness.

Race Category

At White Sand Ultra, every distance is a personal battle, a test not just of your legs but of your willpower. Each category offers a different flavour of desert suffering—and triumph.

  • 50 KM – 8-hour cut-off
Don’t be fooled by the “short” distance. The race course will make you feel every kilometre, and the sun will ensure you feel every bead of sweat. This is the perfect introduction to what Kutch has in store—just a glimpse, but enough to leave you with memories (and some serious muscle burn). Consider this the warm-up to hell.

  • 100 KM—16-hour cut-off
If you’re brave enough to take on the 100 km, expect the desert to fight back. You’ll move from daylight’s scorching intensity to the eerie silence of a desert night, where temperatures plummet, and it’s just you and the stars. This isn’t just a race; it’s a conversation with your inner strength, and the desert doesn’t whisper—it screams. Your reward? Finishing with your head held high as you conquer the land of mirages and shifting sands.

  • 100 Miles—28-hour cut-off
The 100-mile distance is certainly not for the weak of will. The Kutch will test you, break you down, and rebuild you into something stronger. The day will push you to your limits, but when the sun sets and the chill of the night sets in, you’ll be forced to find reserves you didn’t know you had. The vast nothingness of the desert surrounds you—this is where legends are made and where you’ll discover what you’re truly capable of.

  • 135 miles—38-hour cut-off
This is the crown jewel—the beast, the badge of honour that only a handful of runners in India can claim. One of the only few 135-milers in the country, this distance is as much about survival as it is about speed. The first night is long and cold, but the reward of sunrise over the salt flats is an experience few have the privilege to see. Just when you think you can’t go on, the flamingos might appear, and with the sun gently waking the desert, you’ll feel a spark—a reminder of why you’re out here, chasing something greater than a finish line. Finish this race and find yourself a different being, forged in the desert fires of Kutch.
