Event Details
The Ladakh Umling La Challenge is an extreme high-altitude endurance race held in Ladakh, India, on the roads surrounding Umling La Pass, the world’s highest motorable road at about 5,799 meters (19,024 ft) above sea level.
Organized by the Sarmang Society, the race is designed to push human endurance in one of the harshest running environments on Earth, where oxygen levels are nearly 50% lower than at sea level.
The event features multiple race categories ranging from 10 km to 70 km ultra distance, attracting elite ultra runners, adventure athletes, and high-altitude specialists from around the world. Due to the extreme altitude, participants must undergo acclimatization and strict medical screening before competing.
